Practical Semantic Astronomy 2009

Glasgow, UK, 2009 March 2--5

The workshop covered a broad range of semantic topics, and levels of formality, and we managed (mostly successfully) to match invited speakers with relevant contributed talks, in such a way that we started the week with very lightweight semantics, and ended with projects where the semantics was doing lots of heavy lifting.

Other resources

  • Astronomy/LOD links from Danny Ayers
  • Semantic Technologies community of practice, set up by Peter Winstanley to develop a set of resources around the 'business case' for using these technologies, in a form which can potentially be used for grant proposals, work proposals, consultancy proposals, and the like.  The CoP is nominally concerned with local government, but Peter emphasises that business case resources should be appropriate for all sorts of contexts, and everyone is invited to join the CoP!
